Juggling and running a business are pretty much the same thing!

At the beginning of lockdown I decided that I would set myself some goals, to keep me sane, keep me motivated and keep me going. I decided on…

– Launch a podcast

– Create a blog and website

– Learn to juggle

So I thought that I would mix in both work and personal goals, but I never realised that learning to juggle would teach me the most about business!

It sounds mad, but on day one I only juggled with one ball, I needed to make sure I could throw it accurately from both hands, the same height and the same distance, and it wasn’t until I could do that really well that I could even consider adding in a second ball. But eventually I got the hang of it and added in the second ball, now I needed to throw both balls evenly, and the same height! This was harder than it might sound but because my right hand is a lot stronger than my right. Once I mastered it I added in the third ball and slowly but surely I can juggle. Practice makes perfect!

This is EXACTLY the same as running a business. So many business owners want it all, straight away, but if you don’t have the foundations, if you can’t juggle with just one ball you cannot add in extra balls, otherwise there will be balls flying all over the place.

Now I’m thinking maybe I can add in another ball and juggle with four balls? But this only came to mind when I could successfully juggle three balls. It’s the same in business if you take it slowly, one step at a time, you will grow your business much quicker than if you do it all at the same time!

It’s amazing how lots of things can teach us about business, and about ourselves! I’d love to know what your goals are for lock down! What are you trying to master? Let me know, I might be able to help. And if you have any tips on how to be a world class juggler…..just let me know!
